Exciting, naive Schooner Painting on tin...c.1900. Very primitive with masts high and blowing in the wind. It is a 2-mast ship with 2 sailors on board painted on an old navy blue and green tin sign. It has round head nail construction. On the back of the painting, it reads "Breakwater Hotel. No trespassing. Private property." The Breakwater Hotel was in Kennebunkport, Maine in the late 19th/early 20th century. Now, it is the "Colony" Hotel. The painting is unsigned.
It is a wonderful piece of nautical art with all the bells you'd want to sound! Old "hanging" holes from its time as a sign. If you are from New England and know this area, you will love the style, colors, condition and memories that this may bring back.
